During most of the rule of Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian government did not support LGBT-rights legislation at home and objected to attempts, starting in the 1990s, to have the United Nations include LGBT-rights within its human rights mission. While the Mubarak regime did not support LGBT-rights, it did not enact an obvious ban on homosexuality or cross-dressing in the criminal code.
He had great courage and he had a very close relationship with God. v17 But some men, who looked after other peoples sheep, came there too. God had not forgotten his special promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Moses saw the fire, but the bush did not burn to ashes. I will go over there and see this strange sight, he thought. I am Abrahams God, Isaacs God and Jacobs God, he said. I have seen my people, who have terrible troubles in Egypt. Their cruel masters of the slaves are causing them to be miserable. v8 So I have come down to rescue them from the *Egyptians. And I will bring them to a good country where there is plenty of space. They describe a successful life for people who wandered about with their sheep and their goats. The last of these terrible events would be the death of *Pharaohs oldest son (Exodus 11:5; ). For example, Joshu-(y)a (Numbers ), Eli-jah (1 Kings 17:1). The word rescue shows the close relationship with God and his people. Verses 10-13 Moses did not think that he could speak to *Pharaoh again. So it was unlikely that *Pharaoh would listen either. But God had ordered Moses and Aaron to lead his people away from Egypt. Verses 21-25 The list of Levis children and grandchildren emphasises Aarons family. Merari (verse 16) and Putiel (verse 25) may be *Egyptian names. You *represent me in front of *Pharaoh and Aaron will speak on your behalf. Verse 8 When *Pharaoh himself had suffered, then he spoke to Moses and Aaron. If God took the *frogs away, *Pharaoh would let the *Israelites go. *Pharaoh recognised that the *LORD had sent the *plague of *frogs. That was the first time that God dealt with the *Egyptians in a different way from the *Israelites. But to go for a three day journey did not please him. In the first 5 *plagues, *Pharaoh had become proud. Then the *LORD said to Moses, Get up early in the morning. I will punish you, your officials, and all your people. v18 So at this time tomorrow I will send a very bad storm of *hail. Some of *Pharaohs officials respected what the *LORD had said.
